All in The Coast

A weekend in Blankenberge

With my fascination for mermaids and beaches, I feel very much drawn to the seaside. And when you're talking about the Belgian coast, Blankenberge quickly comes to mind, as it is our second biggest seaside resort. The city has a beautiful heritage from its Belle Époque glory (which I'm very sensitive to) but that's not the only thing it has to offer. There really is something for everyone in Blankenberge, whether it is culture, shopping, gastronomy or beach bars! Since the city is rather small, there is no pressure and you can easily go from one point to another by foot. And with its 'Happy to sea you' spirit, the city is known to be warm and welcoming!

Winter in Ostend

I've been going to Ostend in summer for several years now, but this year I got to rediscover the city as a winter destination. As temperatures drop, the city at the seaside transforms into a pre-Christmas haven, complete with ice skating rink and hundreds of light decorations. And since Ostend is also all about shopping, a trip in December is the perfect occasion to find all your Christmas presents while enjoying the winter magic. So grab your coat and your gloves and follow me!

A day in Knokke

For the equivalent of Saint-Tropez at the Belgian coast, you have to be in Knokke, our most luxurious seaside resort famous for its rich villas and high-end boutiques. In the summertime, the city really comes to life through fashion, art and design, making it one of the best places to go to (like so many people from Antwerp do). Grab a rental bike and follow me for a fabulous day of sea, style and sun!

A day in Ostend • Sights

In Dutch there is this word "uitwaaien", which literally means "to walk in the wind". That is exactly what the seaside is all about for me. Walking on the beach and forgetting everything. More than any other place, the coast gives me a real feeling of getaway inside my own country. And Ostend is one of my favorite cities on the coast because it has so much to offer. Not only is the city really alive, with lots of great initiatives, but it also has a rich history. During the Belle Époque, Ostend was the place to be for the rich and famous and you can find architectural gems reminiscent of Ostend's glorious past all over the city. Follow me!
