Decorating • The hallway

Decorating • The hallway

A big hallway can be perceived as a curse. After all, it is space you lose for the other rooms. But you can easily turn it into a blessing by making it a room you feel happy coming home to. Again, Pinterest was a major source of inspiration. I realized the perfect hallway involves two things: a sideboard and a large round mirror. And the rest comes fairly easily. Come on in!

We live in a building from the 60s and although it is my favorite decade (for the fashion, the Kennedy's and the American Dream), I wasn't sure how I felt about living in a building that was built in that area. That was until my friend Shari pointed out it had a strong Wes Anderson feel to it. I must admit this truly shed a new light on the pink walls, the floors and the vintage elevator.

As I said before, it's all about the sideboard. Once you've found that, you just need to decorate it. You'll need a table lamp, a cup for your keys, some flowers, perhaps a candle. And a light box of course, you'll definitely need a light box. To further finish the room you can add a beautiful white chair, a tropical plant (the bigger the better) and a coat hanger.

P.S.: We added the bottle of gin afterwards. We thought it was just so beautiful it was a shame to have it stored in the kitchen. And besides, it's a perfect match with our door mat!
